Enter your best soul food dish for a chance to win the Grand Prize at a “Taste of Soul” on February 28, at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center!
Guests will sample your dish and judges will vote on the best dish in each category.
- The Grand Prize (People’s Choice) winner will receive $750.
- 1st place winners in each category will win $500.
- Additional awards will be given to all contest participants.
You will choose one category from the following:
- Meat
- Side Dishes
- Vegan/Vegetarian
- Desserts
Contestants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis, or until all categories are filled.
A $10 refundable deposit is required from all contestants, which will be returned on the day of the event pending contestant arrival.

Contest Guidelines:
- One (1) table and two (2) chairs will be provided to you
- You must provide samples for up to 150 – 200 people
- Sample cups will not be provided- you must bring your own (2 oz. cups are preferred)
- No food or beverage sales are allowed
- No giveaways (outside of food samples) are allowed at your table
Judges will taste your dish and score it based on appearance, taste, and creativity. The contestant with the highest score will win in each category.
The People’s Choice winner will receive the Grand Prize.
